A 46-year-old man died in Cárdenas, Matanzas, after suffering injuries during a brawl presumably stemming from personal issues, and the Police arrested one person for their alleged involvement in the incident.
The official profile , connected to the provincial authorities, reported this Saturday that the incident occurred in the community council of Pueblo Nuevo Norte.
According to the publication, the victim was found injured inside her home and was subsequently taken to the "Julio Manuel Aristegui Villamil" Municipal Hospital, where she ultimately lost her life.
The report cited accounts from neighbors indicating that the man had previously engaged in a "heated argument over personal issues" with another individual.
The injuries sustained during that confrontation would later lead to his death.
The police arrested Jorge Cárdenas Jiménez at his own home due to his alleged involvement in the case.
The pro-government profile presented him directly as the "perpetrator of the act" and claimed that he must answer for the committed crime.
In recent months, several violent incidents have shocked Cárdenas, Matanzas, due to the brutality with which they occurred.
One of these incidents occurred in June, when a 17-year-old girl died after being injured with a knife during a fight with another girl who was 14 years old. The young woman passed away while her family was trying to get transportation to take her to a hospital.
In May, a man lost his life after being stabbed in his own home in that city. The alleged perpetrator of the crime was apprehended.
Days earlier, another act of violence had been reported in the town of Camarioca, in the municipality of Cárdenas: a young worker was murdered with a knife to steal his car and horse that belonged to him. Authorities arrested a suspect, according to official reports.
The situation is part of an alarming escalation of violence and crime in Cuba.
The NGO Cubalex documented 37 homicides during July of this year, the highest monthly figure recorded by the organization since it began its monitoring four years ago.
