A 46-year-old man died in Cárdenas, Matanzas, after sustaining injuries allegedly during a fight over personal issues, while Jorge Cárdenas Jiménez was arrested for his suspected involvement in the incident.
The officialist profile , linked to the provincial authorities, reported this Saturday that the incident occurred in the popular council Pueblo Nuevo Norte.
According to the publication, the victim was found injured inside their home and was later transferred to the "Julio Manuel Aristegui Villamil" Municipal Hospital, where they ultimately lost their life.
The official report cited accounts from neighbors stating that the man had previously engaged in a “violent altercation over personal issues” with another individual.
The injuries sustained during that confrontation would later lead to his death.
The police arrested Jorge Cárdenas Jiménez at his home due to his alleged connection to the case.
The official profile presented him directly as the "perpetrator" and stated that he must answer for the crime committed.
In recent months, several violent incidents have shocked Cárdenas, Matanzas, due to the brutality with which they occurred.
One of them occurred in June, when a 17-year-old girl died after being injured with a knife during a fight with another girl aged 14 in Cárdenas.
The young woman passed away while her family was trying to secure transportation to take her for medical attention.
In October, another man was arrested as the suspected perpetrator of the death of a 62-year-old worker in a bar in the city.
The victim had tried to intervene in an altercation and received a stab wound to the chest.
The situation is part of a broader concern regarding the increase of violence in Cuba.
Cubalex documented 37 homicides in July 2026, the highest monthly figure recorded by the organization since it started its monitoring four years ago.
