Ulises Toirac and Jorge Martínez showcased their tattoos on camera and revealed a coincidence: they chose the same side of their chest, although each carries a completely different story.
The moment occurred in the podcast "Everyone Talks" from Cubamastv, published last week, where Martínez interviewed Toirac in a discussion that lasted over an hour.
The friendship between both actors goes back a long way. Martínez even participated in "Do You Swear to Tell the Truth?", the show that Toirac created as a tribute to "La Tremenda Corte."
In April 2026, following a reunion they had, Toirac dedicated an emotional public message to Martínez, in which he called him "the bravest person I know."
Jorge Martínez's tattoo: a lung that blooms
It was Martínez who first unbuttoned his shirt to show his tattoo. The design, in black ink with vibrant flowers, represents the respiratory system, featuring the trachea and bronchi, but deliberately breaks the symmetry when it reaches the lungs: on one side, the organ is depicted, while on the other, flowers bloom.
"It's a tattoo that my daughter suggested after my surgery. She came up with the idea, searched for it, and found it. The guy who tattooed it is her friend, and she asked him to do this for me. It's a lung, and on the other side, where I don't have a lung, there are some flowers. She got it on her arm," the actor explained.
The tattoo is linked to the survival story of the actor. Martínez lives with one lung after facing two episodes of cancer: the first in his left lung, diagnosed about 12 years ago, and the second in his throat in 2023, when doctors gave him only six months to live. He overcame both.
The tattoo of Ulises Toirac: the flag with thorns
When Martínez saw his friend's tattoo, he was surprised: "In the same place. The Cuban flag. In the same spot as mine. Look how beautiful," he said.
Toirac has the national emblem tattooed on his chest, waving. "It's the Cuban flag, but wrapped in thorns," he clarified.
"This is about 20 years old, something like that. People say, 'No, because lately you’ve been crazy.' No, no, no, no, no. My craziness goes way back," the comedian stated. His friend responded, "Carrying the Cuban flag on your chest is something very beautiful, very significant."
Toirac has been the target of criticism for his public stances on the Cuban reality. The tattoo is proof that his connection to Cuba —and the way he expresses it— predates any recent controversies.
That is not the only tattoo the comedian has. In July 2018, Toirac got in Miami a map of Cuba with the phrase “no more hatred” at the top of his back.
