A Cuban content creator identified as Yaneisy (@yaneisycanta_98) sparked a wave of curiosity on TikTok by revealing the name of what she believes to be the most beautiful beach in Cuba: Chapaleta, an almost pristine spot located on the northern coast of Las Tunas, in the Puerto Manatí area.
The video published at the end of August arrived as a response to the thousands of followers who, after seeing images of the beach in a previous post, demanded to know its name. In just a few weeks, it has amassed over 85,700 views, 6,203 likes, and 408 comments.
"Cuba has the best beaches in the world, but I think this one won the grand prize," Yaneisy claims at the beginning of the clip, before revealing the name of the place.
The creator describes Chapaleta as a beach with fine sand, crystal-clear waters, and sandbanks that set it apart from any other destination she has visited in eastern Cuba, including some beaches in Guantánamo and Inca Mahuey. "I have had the privilege of visiting many beaches in eastern Cuba, many places, but none are as beautiful as this one," she asserts.
Accessing Chapaleta is not easy: it can only be reached by boat, taking between 35 and 40 minutes. However, Yaneisy sees it as a minor detail. "It's definitely worth it," she says in the video.
The beach also poses a risk that the creator does not overlook: "You have to be very careful because its current is very strong and it can be dangerous," she warns when referring to the estuary that surrounds the area.
Chapaleta has a coastline of 765 meters, fine cream-colored sand, a sandy seabed, a gentle slope, and a conservation status rated as excellent. Its surrounding estuaries and mangroves add ecological value, and academic studies have suggested it as a space with potential for nautical activities, diving, and nature tourism.
The viral phenomenon of Chapaleta is not the first of its kind this summer. In July, the Cuban Daniela Lodeiro made Playa La Boca in Puerto Padre, also in Las Tunas, go viral with a video that surpassed 242,900 views and garnered over 16,200 "likes" in just a few hours.
Both videos showcase the interest that some little-known natural destinations in Cuba can generate on social media. Las Tunas has a total of 36 beaches, 34 of them on the north coast, many with minimal development and high natural value, although they have historically been overshadowed by more well-known tourist spots like Varadero or Guardalavaca.
Yaneisy closes her video with an open invitation to her followers: "Let me know in the comments if you have ever seen such a beautiful place, such a vibrant beach as this one, although I seriously doubt it."
