The Cuban opposition activist Manuel Milanés is calling for a Santo Rosario prayer this Saturday, September 19, in Miami, under the slogan “For the freedom of political prisoners and for an anti-communist Cuba,” in an event that combines religious faith and political commitment against the dictatorship.
According to the announcement published on their Facebook account, the event is organized in conjunction with the organizations Plantados and the Brigade 2506, and will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the Museum of Brigade 2506, located at 1821 SW 9th St, in Little Havana.
Milanés, the president of the Anti-Communist War Council (CPGA), explained the spirit of the event with these words: "Our struggle for freedom must transcend the political realm and be imbued with faith, trusting in the infinite mercy of God and placing ourselves at the feet of the Most Holy Virgin Mary."
The event flyer features an image of Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre, the patroness of Cuba, and includes the characteristic slogan of the CPGA: "God, Family, and Property."
Milanés is a well-known figure in Cuban activism in exile, with over 500,000 followers on social media, and he often organizes Rosary prayers on his digital platforms, where he invokes the intercession of the Virgin Mary with the phrase: "My Mother, we ask for your intercession so that we may pray this Rosary in a free Cuba."
The call on Saturday extends that practice to the public space of Miami, with the participation of two historic exile organizations.
Plantados —whose full name is "Plantados until Freedom and Democracy in Cuba"— has been providing monthly financial support to political prisoners on the island for over twenty years.
The Assault Brigade 2506, on its part, brings together veterans and descendants of Cuban exiles who participated in the Bay of Pigs invasion on April 17, 1961.
The backdrop of the event is the increasing repression in Cuba: according to data from Prisoners Defenders collected by Infobae, the island reached a historic high of 1,339 political prisoners at the end of August 2026, including 155 women, a number that has steadily risen throughout the year.

The Cuban regime, which has labeled Milanés a "terrorist," has shown no signs of slowing down this repressive escalation.
"Let us raise the Rosary together for the freedom of our Homeland," concludes the activist's call for this Saturday in Little Havana.
