If the price of the dollar opened this Thursday with the surprise of reaching 700 Cuban pesos (CUP) in the informal market, by the end of the day it did not disappoint: the US bill continued to rise and finished at 703 CUP.
At 8:00 PM local time, the placed the dollar at 703 CUP, three pesos higher than the level reached during the morning and at its highest value in the last 30 days.
The increase continues the upward trend of the past few weeks.
Seven days ago, the dollar was trading at 688 CUP, which means it has gained 15 pesos in a week, equivalent to approximately 2.2%.
Exchange Rate Evolution
Compared to a month ago, when it was at 663 CUP, the US dollar has gained 40 pesos.
The range for the last 30 days varies precisely from a minimum of 663 CUP to 703 CUP reached this Thursday.
The difference with the official rate remains significant. The Central Bank of Cuba (BCC), in its Segment III, places the dollar this Thursday at 664 CUP, leaving a gap of 39 pesos compared to the informal market.
Just a month ago, the official exchange rate for the dollar was 631 CUP. Its increase to the current 664 CUP also reflects a depreciation of the Cuban peso in the official market, although at a slower rate than that observed among private transactions.
The euro also ended the day up, with a quote of 798 CUP, while the MLC was around 453 CUP.
