Rachel Chang, the current Miss International Cuba 2026, graced the runways of the New York Fashion Week as part of her international preparation before representing Cuba in one of the most important beauty pageants in the world.
The model and lawyer from Havana, crowned on June 29 in Miami under the organization Reinado Nacional de Belleza Cuba (RNBCuba), was invited to participate in the event by the same organization, headed by Sergio Meso, as part of her training for the 64th edition of Miss International that will take place in Tokyo.
During Fashion Week, held from September 10 to 15, Rachel walked the runway for designers and brands Leo Almodal, Uno Rodriguez, HER.I, and Meehee Hanbok, solidifying her presence in the international fashion scene, Meso explained to CiberCuba.
Alongside her, the fellow Cuban Damián Fernández Peña walked the runway in that edition of the New York event.
According to statements from Sergio Meso to this medium, Rachel and Damián were the only Cubans to walk the runway for major designers during that edition, particularly for Leo Almodal.
Beyond the runways, Rachel Chang also participated in a forum organized by China US Fashion Week, where the discussion centered on fast fashion, its impact on the environment, and the labor conditions of those working in that industry.
Last Tuesday, the Instagram account of RNBCuba posted a reel of Rachel in the streets of New York with the message: "Hello, New York! Concrete jungle where dreams are made. Where every street feels like a new beginning, every light inspires, and the city reminds you that anything is possible."
Born in Havana, Rachel Chang has roots in Pinar del Río: her mother is from that province and also participated in the national RNBCuba contest, held on the same June 29 in Miami where her daughter was crowned.
Rachel holds a degree in journalism and law, and is currently practicing as a lawyer in South Florida, a profile that complements her background in the world of beauty and fashion.
Her participation in New York Fashion Week is part of the preparation for the 64th edition of Miss International, a competition in which she will represent Cuba on November 25, 2026 at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
RNBCuba, based in Miami, has fostered a growing presence of the Cuban diaspora in international beauty pageants in recent years.
