Mamá Estoy Brillando, the Cuban singer Wilfredo Alejandro Sosa Espinosa, announced on Instagram that his debut studio album is "almost ready" and described it as "one of the most sincere albums in Cuban music."
The Havana-born artist, raised in El Vedado, made the announcement in two posts accompanied by images taken in Viñales and other corners of the Island.
In the first instance, the musician humorously acknowledged that he was spending time "goofing off at the beach instead of being in the studio," although he assured that the project was progressing: "you all know that we're all learning to live."
Days later, in a more reflective post, the artist expanded on the announcement with a statement about his artistic and cultural identity: "People like me were destined to bring light to the world. And that is serious work."
In that same text, Mamá Estoy Brillando described a search process that has occupied him all year: “I have spent the entire year on a long quest to find which part of Cuban culture resonates with me.”
The artist also posed a question that defines his stance within the Cuban music scene: "Why do I not feel represented by the ignorance, disrespect, vulgarity, and lack of manners that predominates today in our country?"
Her response was emphatic: "I only came to the conclusion that we all belong to this land, but my way of being Cuban is different."
The reel that accompanies the ad features a snippet from the album with verses that depict everyday life in Cuba: «Things are tough, there's no tourism / A blonde next to me, practicing occultism / Me, surviving communism».
The artist concluded his announcement with a warning that also serves as a promise: "Enjoy the night while you can, for when the sun comes up, there will be nowhere to hide."
The new work would be his second full-length album, although the artist presents it as his "first studio album" in the proper sense, suggesting a qualitative distinction from "The Thousand and One Nights," the eight-song project he released under the Plus Media label in August 2025.
Mamá Estoy Brillando began making music in 2020, when the pandemic interrupted her studies in Physical Education and she learned production on her own through online tutorials.
Since then, he has built a remarkable career: songs like "The Era of Love," "The Summer of My Life," and "JLO & BEN" have established him as one of the most original voices in young Cuban music, with a style that does not conform to a defined genre.
In October 2024, he collaborated with the duo Charly & Johayron on a remix of "The Era of Love," and so far in 2026, he has released the singles "The Kid of the Year Pt. 4" and "Guadalupe."
