A Cuban who worked on a beach in Holguín fell in love with a tourist from the Czech Republic in 2024, and two years later he shares his story on Instagram with a mix of humor and tenderness that has captivated his followers.
The protagonist, identified as @barbershop.ales in a reel published this Monday, recounts that the meeting was entirely coincidental: "My girlfriend is from the Czech Republic; I met her on a beach in Holguín in 2024. She was a tourist, I worked there, and we met completely by chance."
What followed was a scene that many will recognize: a glance, a smile, and the decision to take action. "We looked at each other, smiled, and from that moment I knew something was happening. I jumped into the water and went over to talk to her," he recounts.
The biggest obstacle wasn't the geographical distance, but the language. "My English was pretty poor, but I was determined. My heart was racing and I felt an embarrassment you can't imagine," he admits with a laugh. Even so, the language barrier didn't stop them from spending the entire day together: "Talking, laughing about everything."
When the young Czech woman returned to her country, the connection did not break. "When she left, we kept talking every day without missing a single one," explains the Cuban, adding, "And so, between messages and calls, we decided that this was a relationship."
At the time of posting the reel, the couple has accumulated two years of long-distance dating, a story that began with a chance meeting on a Cuban beach and that they have managed to maintain despite the miles that separate them.
The reel from @barbershop.ales, which carries the tag #amoradistancia, ends with a question to its followers: "Do you believe in love at first sight?".
