A 63-year-old man was arrested in Miami and faces 14 counts of petty theft after authorities linked him to a series of incidents that occurred over several months at Macy’s and Goodwill stores.
After appearing before a judge on Tuesday, he received an order to stay away from the stores involved and a bail of $35,000.
According to Telemundo 51, based on records from the Miami-Dade jail and arrest reports, most of the accusations relate to a Macy’s in the Midway Crossings mall.
According to the cited police documents, the man allegedly visited the establishment on 12 occasions between June 9 and August 21 and reportedly left without paying for merchandise that totaled over 3,000 dollars.
The reports describe a similar procedure in those incidents: the accused allegedly selected products, placed them in a bag, and left the store without paying.
The investigation also includes several incidents attributed to the man in a Goodwill store in Miami.
One of them occurred on September 17, when, according to reports, he allegedly placed items valued at approximately 115 dollars into a bag before leaving without paying.
Authorities claim that he returned to the same establishment on the morning of Monday, September 21 and apparently took several packages of bras valued at around 77 dollars.
Later that same day, he returned to Goodwill. The police then arrived at the establishment and arrested him, after which he was taken to the Miami-Dade jail.
The records cited in the information also indicate that the accused has two previous convictions for petty theft.

In August, an employee of a Fresco y Más supermarket in Homestead was arrested and charged with participating in an organized fraud scheme.
According to the arrest report, between July 15 and August 18, 40 incidents of irregular transactions were detected, with estimated losses of 486.44 dollars.
Most recently, earlier this month, three residents of Miami-Dade were arrested following an investigation into a series of robberies targeting businesses in South Florida.
Authorities were investigating similar incidents that occurred since February in several jurisdictions, and they indicated that the suspects allegedly used cargo vans and ski masks to steal electronic equipment.
