A Cuban resident abroad surprised her mother in Cuba by sending her an electric bicycle, and the woman's reaction upon discovering the gift was captured in a video posted on TikTok by the user @katiemprende1.
In the images, which surpassed 108,600 views in just a few days, the mother is seen opening the box with evident excitement. As soon as she discovers the surprise, she claims she had a feeling about it: "I knew it, I dreamed it."
Although she claimed to have sensed it, the woman could not contain her emotion. Amid exclamations and laughter, she joked that her daughter was going to "make her work hard."
The electric bicycle also represents a practical aid amidst the mobility challenges that Cuba faces, characterized by fuel scarcity, public transportation issues, and frequent power outages.
Social media has become a common stage for similar stories, where Cubans living abroad surprise their relatives on the island with gifts that alleviate some of their everyday needs. These gestures also reflect the significant role the diaspora plays in providing economic and material support to their relatives on the island. Between January and July 2026, items sent from the United States valued at a total of 91 million dollars entered Cuba.
In this case, beyond the material value of the bicycle, the video stands out for the spontaneous reaction of the mother to the surprise prepared from afar by her daughter.
