A Cuban identified on TikTok as @daniella_perez99 shared a video on Sunday featuring photographs from her wedding with her wife, titled “Our Colorful Wedding”, which received numerous congratulations and expressions of support on social media.
The images show the two brides posing in a classic convertible car in fuchsia pink, with a Cuban license plate, decorated with red balloons and surrounded by palm trees.
One of them is wearing a white bridal gown with floral lace and a tiara; the other is dressed in a white suit and sunglasses.
Along with the photos, the author wrote: "3 months to 2027 and I still love you since 2023," a message that reveals the couple has been together since that year.
Followers responded enthusiastically in the comments: "How beautiful, congratulations," "May that lovely love last many years, blessings," and "It’s my dream to get married like that someday," were some of the most notable reactions.
Another user wrote: "Long live love, and may it always endure with very beautiful good vibes."
The post joins other cases of LGBTQ+ Cuban couples who have shared their weddings on TikTok and other social media platforms, where they have received numerous expressions of support and congratulations.
In March of this year, two Cuban women living in Miami celebrated their first wedding anniversary by sharing images of their ceremony with their followers.
This type of publication is set within the context of the Family Code, approved in a referendum on September 25, 2022, with 66.87% of the votes in favor, which recognized equal marriage in Cuba, as well as introducing changes in areas such as adoption and altruistic gestation.
After the norm came into effect, same-sex marriages began to be registered in various provinces. During the first month, there were 75 same-sex marriages celebrated. By the end of March 2023, the number had risen to 745 couples, and by June of that year, more than 1000 were already recorded.
Upon the first anniversary of the regulation, Cuba had formalized 2132 marriages between same-sex couples. In 2023, 1645 equal marriages were registered, according to data from the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI) cited by the United Nations Population Fund.
TikTok and other social media platforms have become spaces where Cuban couples publicly share images of their weddings, and the video by @daniella_perez99 serves as another example of that visibility.
"It's my dream to get married like this someday," wrote one of his followers in response to the pictures of the "colorful" wedding.
