The US dollar closed this Monday at 745 Cuban pesos (CUP) in Cuba's informal market, just five pesos below the 750 barrier and at its highest level in the last 30 days.
At 8:00 PM, Cuban local time, the also placed the euro at 850 CUP, while the MLC (Freely Convertible Currency) recorded an indicative value of 488 CUP.
The dollar gained five pesos in just 24 hours, after having closed on Sunday at 740 CUP.
The trend over the past week is also clearly upward: seven days ago, it was trading at 718 CUP, marking an increase of 27 pesos, equivalent to approximately 3.8%.
Exchange Rate Evolution
The increase becomes even more pronounced when extending the comparison to 30 days. The U.S. dollar has risen from 675 to 745 CUP, a difference of 70 pesos and an approximate increase of 10.4%. The value this Monday also represents the highest recorded during that period.
The euro continues on a similar path, closing at 850 CUP, three pesos above the 847 from Sunday. A week ago it was at 818 pesos, thus accumulating an increase of 32 CUP, around 3.9%.
In the last 30 days, the European currency went from 763 to 850 CUP, a difference of 87 pesos which represents an approximate increase of 11.4%. With this closing, the euro remains the most expensive currency in the Cuban informal market, 105 pesos above the dollar.
The MLC, on the other hand, records this Monday an average indicative value of 488 CUP.
In contrast to the 542 CUP from the previous day, this represents a drop of 54 pesos, nearly 10%. It also decreased compared to the 504 CUP recorded seven days ago. Over the last month, its peak was 547 CUP and its lowest point was 415 CUP.

The distance from the official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Cuba corresponding to Segment III remains substantial. With the official dollar at 681 CUP and the euro at 776 CUP, the gap compared to the informal market currently reaches 64 pesos for the dollar and 74 pesos for the euro.
The close this Monday leaves the dollar just five pesos away from reaching 750 CUP, while the US dollar and the euro are reaching their highest levels in the last 30 days.
