Tania Pantoja, known as "La Panto de Cuba", showcased her vocal power once again in a video posted on her TikTok account last Sunday, where she performs the ballad "Me va a extrañar" by Venezuelan singer-songwriter Ricardo Montaner.
In the clip, recorded in what appears to be a restaurant or at a private, elegant event, the Havana singer wears a long blue dress with a floral pattern and golden accessories while holding the microphone in front of a podium, accompanied by at least one musician.
The video emerged in response to a comment from the user Jomoto, who wrote: "You still keep that tone of voice. When we met in the tumbao. Those were great parties. Regards, friend."
The post gathered over 23,400 views and exceeded 2,000 reactions, showcasing the interaction the artist has with her followers on social media.
Among the hashtags used in the video are #lapantodecuba, #cantantecubana, #peru, and #cuba, referencing the artist's connections to both countries. Pantoja has been residing and building her artistic career in Peru for several years.
Born in Havana on May 13, 1969, Pantoja began her professional career in 1994 with the Sonora Caribeña, after being discovered by talent scout Sonia Saavedra in a Havana cabaret, where she sang after having worked as an educator in a children's circle.
Her involvement with groups such as Lady Salsa, Azúcar Negra, and Bamboleo —the latter being the iconic timba orchestra led by Lazarito Valdés— helped to solidify her path within Cuban popular music.
The Cuban musician Juan Formell came to regard her as one of the best female salsa voices in Cuba, a notable recognition within her artistic career.
In recent years, social media has provided a new dimension of visibility. In December 2024, a video of her dancing to "Soltera" by Shakira went viral on TikTok, and at the beginning of this year, she launched a "Tribute to Celia Cruz," available on online music platforms.
