A 46-year-old Cuban citizen was arrested in Japan on suspicion of attempted homicide after a 32-year-old man was injured with a knife in the back during an incident at an establishment in Yokohama.

The Cuban, who left the scene after the incident, voluntarily reported to the police the next day. "I stabbed him with a knife, but I didn't intend to kill him," the detainee stated, according to reports from Japanese media based on police information.

According to the agency Kyodo News, the incident occurred around 5:15 AM on Sunday, October 11, at a food and beverage establishment located in the Naka district of Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.

The victim sustained a stab wound to the back and had to be transported to a hospital, where she remained under medical treatment when the first reports were released.

The Kanagawa television reported that a worker at the establishment alerted the police and that, according to the initial investigations, the two men had an altercation inside the premises.

Both were there as customers, although the authorities had not determined whether they knew each other beforehand or what circumstances led to the confrontation.

After the incident, the Cuban citizen left the establishment.

The police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident, the relationship between those involved, and the motives behind the confrontation.
