An officer of the Special Brigade of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) was shot and injured during an operation to apprehend a man wanted for armed robbery in the municipality of Guane, Pinar del Río.

The incident was reported by the Facebook page "De Pinar Soy", a profile affiliated with the MININT of the province, which stated that both the agent and the suspect were injured, although neither is in critical condition.

According to the publication, the operation aimed to apprehend a man from Cienfuegos who was a fugitive from justice for crimes of robbery with force.

Authorities reportedly received information that he was hiding in a house in the Guane People's Council, prompting the deployment of Special Brigade personnel, the Technical Investigation Directorate (DTI), and other police units to the area.

During the search of the residence, the suspect allegedly drew a pistol and shot at one of the officers, striking him in the left arm.

According to the reported version, the police responded by using rubber bullets, which injured the man. He was taken to a hospital and, like the officer, is said to be out of danger.

The same source reported that during the operation, a firearm was seized along with over 300,000 Cuban pesos, money that allegedly originated from a robbery carried out in a home in the Isabel Rubio Popular Council, also in Guane.

So far, the identity of the injured officer has not been revealed, nor have medical reports or an official statement from MININT regarding the circumstances of the confrontation been disclosed.
