The Cuban influencer Daniela Reyes surprised her followers this Thursday by sharing on Instagram snippets of the premiere of the second season of her podcast "Bien Chilling," where she revealed the story of her first crush: a neighbor across the street who stole her heart when she still lived in Cuba.
According to her account, the boy was two years older, exercised a lot, and was "the most popular kid in the entire school." Daniela, who practiced dance, admired him silently without daring to make the first move.
"My first crush, at that time, we were in Cuba, of course, and he was my neighbor, across the street. I would see him and say, how beautiful," she confessed with laughter during the episode.
The strategy to catch his attention was as clever as it was Cuban: her mother advised her to walk past him under the pretext of buying ice cream at private homes.
"At that time, people would go to buy ice cream at private homes that sold it, because in Cuba, of course, there were no ice cream shops or anything like that. And my mom would tell me, 'stay on the sidewalk and walk past him,'" recalled Daniela, who completed the ritual by jingling a keychain full of keys so that he would notice her.
Thus, about a year of silent infatuation passed until the story took an unexpected turn: it was the neighbor who sent the first message, writing "hello beautiful neighbor" and believing that he was the one who had won over Daniela.
She sees it differently. "I caught him, and he never realized I was behind him. He thinks he caught me, but it was all the other way around," she said with humor.
After this confessional account, it becomes clear that the singer Yomil Hidalgo was neither the first nor the only love of Daniela Reyes in Cuba.
The relationship between the influencer and the Cuban reggaeton artist was one of the most followed in the entertainment scene of the Island: it lasted approximately five years until June 2025, when Yomil confirmed the breakup on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the time spent together. The distance may have influenced the decision, as Daniela moved to Miami in December 2024.
Since then, both have rebuilt their romantic lives. Daniela is in a relationship with Cuban businessman Rafa Rodríguez, while Yomil introduced digital creator Rodmelis Núñez as his new partner a few months ago.
