Kylian Mbappé scored twice to lead Real Madrid to a 1-2 victory over FC Barcelona this Sunday at Spotify Camp Nou, in the tenth round of LaLiga 2026-27, significantly tightening the title race.

The Frenchman opened the scoring in the 41st minute and sealed the match in the 87th, when the azulgrana team was looking for a 2-1 after the equalizer from Raphinha in the 61st. According to the report by Marca, Madrid delivered "its best version in the last two seasons, that of a solid, precise, and versatile team, capable of defending diligently and transitioning with purpose."

The first goal came from a cross by Yan Diomandé that Gerard Martín cleared unconvincingly; the ball was left loose and Mbappé pushed it into the net. It was his 99th goal in the white jersey.

Barcelona reacted in the second half. A corner taken by Lamine Yamal found Pedri, who set up Raphinha for the equalizer. Camp Nou, with 62,000 spectators, regained hope, and the team led by Hansi Flick pressed in search of a comeback.

However, the final blow came in the 87th minute. After a loss from Gabriel Jesús, Camavinga —who had come on in the 80th minute— received the ball from Bellingham and laid it on a plate for Mbappé to make it 1-2, sealing the match.

"A double from Mbappé, one goal in the first half and another just as Barcelona was finding its footing and seeking to make it 1-2, surpassed Raphinha's goal on a night when Barcelona, for much of the time, resembled itself very little," reported Mundo Deportivo.

The tactical key lay in the strategy of José Mourinho, who, during his second tenure at the helm of Madrid, surprised everyone by placing Bernardo Silva as a pivot alongside Tchouaméni and kept Arda Güler in the starting eleven. The Portuguese coach achieved this without Courtois or Vinicius, the two major absences from the white team.

The result has a direct impact on the standings: Barcelona entered the match as the leader with 27 points from nine matches—full of victories—while Madrid was in third place with 21 points. The defeat halts the Blaugrana's dominance and brings the Whites closer in the table.

For Mbappé, the night was historic in several ways. The brace allowed him to reach 100 goals with Real Madrid and raise his tally to 12 in Clásicos, accumulated during his time at PSG and the white club. Last season, the French forward scored 58 goals with Madrid across all competitions, although he was absent due to injury in the Clásico of May 2026 that awarded the league title to Barcelona.

The referee of the match was Martínez Munuera from the Valencian Committee, who issued yellow cards to Tchouaméni, Gordon, Huijsen, Mbappé, Balde, and Adeyemi during a highly tense final phase.

With this victory, Real Madrid secures five consecutive wins in LaLiga, making it clear that the battle for the championship is far from over.
