Two people were injured by gunfire during a shooting that occurred Thursday night at an apartment complex in western Hialeah, in Miami-Dade County.

One of the victims was airlifted to a hospital due to the severity of their injuries, while authorities investigate the circumstances of the incident.

The emergency call was received shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, as reported by Univision Miami.

The incident occurred in a residential building located west of the Palmetto Expressway, near 60th Street and 22nd Court, according to CBS News Miami.

Hialeah police officers and emergency teams responded to the complex, where they found two individuals injured.

One was evacuated by a medical helicopter to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, while the other received assistance from rescue services and was also taken to a hospital.

Two people shot and a scene with traces of blood

According to unofficial information released by Univision, one of the victims had a gunshot wound to the forehead and the other to the cheek. These details had not been officially confirmed by the police.

The images obtained by Univision 23 Miami showed detectives working inside the apartment, where clothing items and towels apparently stained with blood were visible, along with similar traces on several pieces of furniture.

Outside the building, two individuals were also seen sitting on the ground, although their connection to the shooting has not been publicly established.

The images broadcast by CBS Miami showed the moment when paramedics transported one of the victims to the medical helicopter.

The wife of one of the injured spoke with the press

A woman who spoke with Univision Miami confirmed that one of the injured was her husband and that he was in stable condition.

The testimony provides information about the condition of one of the victims, although it does not allow for a definite identification of which of the two individuals was evacuated by helicopter, nor does it link each person to the wounds described unofficially.

For the time being, the authorities have not disclosed the identities of the injured nor provided any official medical information about their condition.

Neighbors surprised by what happened

The shooting surprised residents of the complex, who described the occupants of the apartment as friendly and easy to approach.

Lorena, a neighbor interviewed by Univision Miami, expressed her bewilderment at what had happened.

"They are excellent people, excellent neighbors. Something that surprises me is that they greet everyone. Here in this condominium, we are sociable; we support each other. We are neighbors and we see each other, even though everyone is busy with their work. Still, we help one another," he stated.

Another resident interviewed by WSVN 7News also expressed their concern about the violence in a complex where many families live.

The Hialeah Police are investigating the shooting

Detectives remained at the scene for several hours collecting evidence and trying to clarify how the shooting occurred.

So far, the Hialeah Police have not explained what triggered the gunfire, nor have they confirmed whether the victims knew each other or what their relationship was.

There have also been no reports of arrests or the identification of potential suspects.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477) anonymously.
