The President of the United States, Donald Trump, launched a fierce attack against the Democratic Party this Sunday, accusing it of wanting to eliminate borders and allow millions of migrants to enter who, according to his words, would come to American communities to "loot, rape, and rob" their inhabitants.
The statement was disseminated in a video posted by the official account Rapid Response 47 and pertains to a rally held at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque, Iowa, just two days before the legislative elections on Tuesday.
“The Democrats openly promise to abolish their borders and allow millions of migrants from the Third World to loot, violate, and strip their communities,” Trump stated during his speech.
The president continued with an accusation aimed at the economic proposals of the opposition: “They want to steal your wealth and give it to scammers, thieves, and foolish people like that”.
The statements were also covered by Iowa Capital Dispatch, which documented the rally and the President's verbal offensive against the Democratic candidates in the final stretch of the campaign.
Trump did not limit himself to his warnings about immigration and crime. In another segment of the speech, he held his political opponents responsible for several economic issues that, according to him, characterized the previous administration.
"The last time radical Democrats were in power, they gave us the worst inflation in U.S. history, the highest energy prices in our history, the worst trade deficit in our history, and allowed 25 million people to cross our borders,” he stated.
Despite their claims, the figure of 25 million migrants is not supported by the available data.
A fact check published by Factchequeado in July explained that Trump has progressively raised his estimates and that official records do not support the claim that such a number of people entered the country irregularly during Biden's administration.
In a third recording published by the same account, Trump asserted that his return to the White House radically transformed the American situation.
"Less than two years ago, the radical left Democrats delivered the dark age of the United States to us, but we quickly turned it into the Golden Age," he expressed.
The president added: “In the last 17 months, zero illegal immigrants have been admitted to the United States”, a claim he has repeated at other campaign events.
The statement requires precision. According to FactCheck.org, the data used by Trump refers to the fact that border authorities did not temporarily release migrants detained after crossing the southern border irregularly during that period.
This does not mean that all illegal crossings have ceased or that no one has managed to enter without authorization.
The speech also included accusations regarding taxes, public safety, energy, and social issues. In another video from Rapid Response 47,
Trump presented a lengthy list of measures that, he claimed, the Democrats would try to implement if they regain control of Congress.
"The Democrats want to raise your taxes by trillions of dollars, defund the Police, eliminate oil and natural gas, wipe out your life savings, drive your families into bankruptcy, take away your guns, mutilate your children, and destroy your way of life," he stated.
The president used the Iowa rally to endorse Republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, who is competing for a Senate seat against Democrat Josh Turek.
The dispute has gained significance given the possibility that the Republicans may lose their majority in one of the chambers of Congress.
The electoral day on November 3 will also renew the entire House of Representatives and determine numerous governorships and other state positions.
The Republicans are looking to maintain legislative control, while the Democrats are trying to regain seats in several competitive races.
Trump had already warned this Sunday that he would resort to presidential veto if the Democrats regain control of Congress.
During an interview with Fox News, he said he could become “Mr. Veto” to block opposition proposals until agreements are reached.
