A 15-year-old student was arrested in Daytona Beach, Florida, after writing a message about how to kill President Donald Trump on a school computer, an action that triggered a security alert and mobilized authorities.
According to report by FOX 35 Orlando, citing the arrest report from the Daytona Beach Police Department, the incident occurred on Friday, the same day Trump was scheduled to participate in a campaign event in that city of Volusia County.
The teenager, a student at Mainland High School, wrote on her school account of Microsoft OneDrive the phrase in English «how to kill the president», followed by «im just kidding».
The content was detected by Gaggle, a digital surveillance system used to identify potential threats of violence and other risk situations in school accounts and devices. The alert was sent to several members of the educational staff and law enforcement authorities.
According to WESH 2, the school resource officer intervened around 11:00 a.m. after the school's administration received the notification.
The authorities found the message particularly concerning because it coincided with the president's scheduled visit to Daytona Beach.
The police report indicates that the subsequent statement, in which the student claimed to be joking, was understood by the investigators as a sign that she recognized her initial message could be perceived as a threat.
When the officer attempted to detain her inside a school office, the teenager allegedly resisted, tried to leave the location, and began kicking and flailing her arms to prevent being handcuffed.
According to the report, the officer had to restrain her and bring her to the ground to control the situation. During the struggle, his electronic stun device, known as Taser, detached from its holder, and another member of the school security staff intervened to assist in completing the arrest.
The authorities later contacted the minor's legal guardian, who stated that the teenager did not have access to weapons in her home.
The student faces three charges: written threat to kill or cause bodily harm, obstruction of police by depriving an officer of means of protection or communication, and resisting an officer without violence.
The identity of the minor has not been disclosed due to her age.
The arrest occurred during a day of heightened security in Daytona Beach due to the presidential visit.
On the same October 30, the arrest of a 21-year-old woman, identified as Allison Albro, was also reported. She was accused of posting a threat on social media to shoot Trump during his campaign event.
According to authorities from Volusia County, the woman told investigators that she was joking, that she had no access to the mentioned weapon, and that she never intended to harm anyone.
Sheriff Mike Chitwood publicly warned about the consequences of making such statements, even when their authors later present them as jokes.
He also confirmed the coordination of his office with the Secret Service, the FBI, and other agencies to ensure security during the presidential visit.
In September 2025, another 13-year-old student was arrested at a school in Volusia County after asking ChatGPT how to kill a classmate in the middle of class.
That incident occurred at Southwestern Middle School and was also detected through the Gaggle system. The minor then explained that he was joking, but the Volusia County Sheriff's Office intervened and proceeded to arrest him.
