Who can resist a delicious Cuban pizza, with its fluffy crust, melted cheese, and golden edges? The best part is that you don’t need an oven to make it at home. A recipe shared on TikTok demonstrates how to achieve that result using only a skillet, with the ingredient amounts measured in grams.

The content creator Cocina_con_leky shared a Cuban pizza recipe in a skillet that has captured the interest of internet users. The video has garnered over 94,000 views, 3,000 likes, and 2,000 shares.

"This is the skillet pizza recipe that everyone asks for in the comments, and today I'm going to give you the exact measurements in grams to make it perfect," she announces at the beginning of the video.

How to make a Cuban pizza in a skillet?

The first step is to activate the yeast. To do this, mix 240 ml of warm water, 15 g of dry yeast, and 5 g of sugar, and let the mixture rest for ten minutes.

Meanwhile, sift 360 g of wheat flour with 15 g of salt and add 25 ml of oil. After ten minutes have passed, incorporate the yeast mixture and begin to knead.

"We greased our hands and began to knead until we formed a soft dough that wouldn't stick to our hands," explains the creator.

When the dough is ready, cover it and let it rest for about an hour and a half, until it doubles in size.

Next comes one of the most important steps: roll out the dough directly onto a previously greased pan and let it rest for another five minutes before adding the ingredients.

First, a layer of homemade tomato sauce is placed down, followed by the cheese. "For the cheese, I am using quesillo, but if you have another type that melts well, that's even better," the author recommends.

One of his tricks for achieving that delicious finish is to spread the cheese all the way to the edges of the dough, so that a golden, crispy crust forms during baking.

Finally, just cover the pan well and cook the pizza on low heat for about ten minutes, making sure that the base doesn't burn and that the dough is fully cooked.

According to the creator, with these quantities, you can make between five and six pizzas, depending on the size of the pan.

"We cook it on low heat, well covered, for 10 minutes and that's it: you get this delicious Cuban skillet pizza, super crispy and without the need to use an oven," she says while showing the result.

Cuban pizza is one of those flavors that evokes nostalgia among those who grew up on the island. Its distinctive thick and fluffy crust, topped with tomato sauce and generous cheese, has made it one of the most popular fast foods among Cubans.

The recipes for this dish are also a hit on social media. At the end of 2025, a Cuban resident in Spain shared her way of preparing Cuban pizza, while a Cuban chef in the United States surprised everyone with a version featuring guava and cheese.

Moreover, cooking pizza without an oven is nothing new. In 2016, CiberCuba had already shared another recipe for making pizza without an oven, a practical alternative for those who prefer to use a skillet.

With just a few ingredients and no need to turn on the oven, this recipe is a great option for those who want to enjoy a pizza in the authentic Cuban style at home.
