The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has a 62% disapproval rating among voters who participated in the this Tuesday, while only 38% approve of his management, according to the initial results of a national exit poll.

The data was released by NBC News during its live election coverage, although the figures are preliminary and may change as the collection of responses progresses.

The survey also reveals that 59% of voters believe that Trump influenced their electoral decision, whether to express support or opposition to his presidency.

When asked about their reasons for voting, 43% of participants stated that one of them was to express their rejection of the president, compared to 16% who said they voted to show their support.

The difference between the two percentages shows that among those who explicitly stated a position regarding Trump as a reason for their vote, rejection was more common than support.

The assessment of the leader is also unfavorable in economic matters. According to another analysis of the same survey, conducted by Patrick J. Egan for NBC News, a significant portion of voters attributes issues related to food prices, gasoline, and basic services to the Government.

44% of participants stated that they are in a worse economic situation than they were two years ago, while only 18% believed that their personal finances had improved.

Furthermore, 79% indicated that inflation is causing economic difficulties for their family, and 62% held Trump responsible for the high prices.

The survey also found that nearly two-thirds of participants believe that the president's policies have worsened the U.S. economy, while 65% think that his tariffs harm the country.

Preliminary results indicate that Trump's approval rating is below that recorded in his first midterm elections held in 2018, when 45% of surveyed voters supported his performance.

They also fall below the 50% approval rating recorded among voters in the 2020 presidential elections.

According to NBC News, the current 38% is the lowest figure for an incumbent president during an election day since 2008, when George W. Bush received 27%.

The disapproval of the president had already reached high levels before the vote. A survey from NBC News published in April indicated that 63% of American adults disapproved of his management, with inflation and the war with Iran being the main reasons for dissatisfaction.

In October, another poll from NBC News and Telemundo revealed a decline in support for Trump among registered Latino voters.

Only 27% approved of his management, while 78% disapproved of his handling of the cost of living, and 74% disapproved of his economic policy.

These previous studies measured opinions from different groups and should not be confused with the exit poll released this Tuesday, which gathers responses from individuals who actually participated in the voting.

The exit poll from NBC News is conducted by the firm SSRS for a group of news organizations that also includes ABC News, Associated Press, CBS News, CNN, Fox News, and MS NOW. Although the networks receive the same data, each conducts its own analysis.

The study combines in-person interviews conducted with individuals leaving polling places with phone, mail, and internet surveys of early and mail-in voters.

The national sample is designed to include over 75,000 participants across the 50 states. Additionally, in-person interviews are conducted at more than 450 polling places in 15 states with competitive Senate races.

Participants can respond in English or Spanish, and their answers are collected anonymously. The data is updated during the election night as new interviews come in and estimates are adjusted.

The survey allows us to understand the opinions and motivations of those who went to vote, but its percentages do not correspond to the ballot tally nor do they independently determine the results of the congressional elections.
