At 8:00 PM, local Cuban time, will close this Thursday, November 5, 2026, with increases in the dollar and the euro, which reinforce a sustained upward trend over the past weeks.
The US dollar concludes the day at 928 Cuban pesos, the euro reaches 1,000 pesos, and the MLC registers a guided value of 653 pesos, although this figure should be viewed with caution due to the low volume of transactions during this time frame.
The US dollar is quoted at 928 Cuban pesos (CUP) at the close of this Thursday. This represents an increase of 13 pesos compared to the previous day, when the currency closed at 915 CUP according to data from the prior session. Over the last week, the dollar has climbed 60 pesos, up from 868 CUP recorded seven days ago, which signifies a rise of 6.9%.
The 30-day comparison places the current exchange rate at 157.5 pesos higher than the level from a month ago, although this figure may partly reflect adjustments in the index methodology. The dollar also hits its highest point in the last 30 days precisely in this session, reaching 928 CUP, compared to a low of 768 CUP during the same period. It continues to gauge the activity of the informal market in a context of structural currency shortages.
The euro closes the day at 1,000 Cuban pesos (CUP), its highest level in the last 30 days. This represents an increase of 4 pesos compared to the previous day, when the currency was at 996 CUP.
Exchange Rate Evolution
In weekly terms, the euro has gained 49.5 pesos since the 950 CUP of seven days ago, a rise of 5.2%. The lowest recorded in the last month was 860 CUP. It is established as the most expensive currency in the Cuban parallel market, surpassing the dollar by 72 pesos at the close of this trading day.
The MLC records a reference value of 653 Cuban pesos (CUP) at closing, although the available data in this range is limited and the figure should be interpreted with caution. Compared to the previous day, the MLC has decreased by 105.5 pesos, representing a decline of 13.9%. In the last week, it has also fallen from 715 CUP a week ago.
Without physical existence, its use is limited to the state-run businesses that accept it, which restricts its circulation compared to cash currencies.
- Exchange rate of the dollar USD to CUP: 928 CUP.
- Exchange rate of the euro EUR to CUP: 1.000 CUP.
- Exchange rate from MLC to CUP: 653 CUP (indicative value, limited data).
The official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Cuba (Segment III), set this Thursday at 788 CUP per dollar and 885 CUP per euro, remains well below the values that govern daily practice in the informal currency market. The gap between the official dollar rate and the informal one exceeds 140 pesos, while in the case of the euro, the difference is nearly 115 pesos.
Although Segment III was introduced as a more flexible exchange mechanism, its official rate remains significantly distant from that of the informal market and fails to meet the actual demand for foreign currency among the population. In the past month, the official exchange rate for the dollar has risen from 695 to 788 CUP, and the euro from 779 to 885 CUP, but the informal market is growing at a notably faster pace.
In a scenario of sustained inflation, low state wages, and increasing partial dollarization of the economy, every change in the informal market directly impacts domestic prices and the purchasing power of Cubans. The closure of the dollar at 928 pesos and the euro at 1,000 pesos means that those earning in Cuban pesos see their real purchasing power further diminished compared to those who have access to foreign currencies.
The CiberCuba Exchange Rate is an index of the informal Cuban market created through the automated analysis of thousands of currency trading posts in Telegram and Facebook groups. The calculation disregards atypical offers and spam messages, weighs each transaction based on its recency, and consolidates a representative value that is updated several times a day.
