An individual was apprehended by the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) after stealing the handbag of a receptionist at the Sol Belén workshop in Pinar del Río, after the establishment's surveillance cameras captured the incident.
The theft occurred recently when the suspect entered the establishment and took the worker's bag, which contained several personal items and a cell phone.
The workshop shared on Facebook a 19-second video recorded by its own cameras, along with a series of photographs that show the individual walking on the sidewalk in front of the establishment: he was wearing blue jeans, a light shirt, a cap with a visor, and white sneakers, and was carrying a green crossbody bag.
"The thief overlooked that we have surveillance cameras," Sol Belén wrote in her post, where she also alerted the community: "People, we need to be careful because there is a thief taking advantage everywhere."
The images allowed for a quick identification of the suspect. In a later update, the workshop confirmed the arrest: “The thief has been caught and is behind bars; now he will have to face justice.”
Similar situations have been documented in a robbery captured on camera in Havana and in Guantánamo, where cameras recorded the theft of a bicycle.
Pinar del Río has experienced several episodes of insecurity throughout 2026. In September, seven young individuals were arrested after violently robbing the small business Almacenes Escambray in Siete Matas, where they threatened the security guard and stole appliances and money. In October, an agent from MININT and a fugitive wanted for theft were shot during an operation in Guane, where over 300,000 Cuban pesos were seized.
