The singer-songwriter Liuba María Hevia received the Youth Master Award this Friday, the highest honor awarded by the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), at a ceremony held at the Cuba Pavilion, the national headquarters of the organization in Havana, according to the state agency Prensa Latina.

The event was held specifically for the artist to receive her award, as she had been unable to attend the main ceremony of the honor, which took place on October 17 at the José Martí Memorial during the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the AHS.

Yasel Toledo, national president of the organization, highlighted on social media the ongoing connection that Hevia maintains with the guild and his willingness to include young creators in his creative projects.

"It was beautiful to share at our national headquarters of the Pabellón Cuba; for her, our hug and affection," expressed Toledo.

The Maestro de Juventudes 2026 Award was given to a total of 17 personalities, among them 16 Cubans and the Brazilian theologian Frei Betto, during the commemorative activities for the anniversary of the AHS, founded on October 18, 1986.

Among the other awardees are Marilyn Bobes, Mirtha Ibarra, Jorge Fornet, and Moisés Finalé, among other figures in Cuban culture.

Hevia, born in Havana in December 1964, has been part of the Nueva Trova Movement since 1982, a musical movement associated with figures such as Silvio Rodríguez and Pablo Milanés, with whom she has collaborated on several recordings.

Her career spans over 25 music albums and 16 Cubadisco awards, alongside a prolific body of work dedicated to children that has made her one of the most beloved voices in Cuban music.

Among her most recognized works is Travesía mágica, an album that won the Cubadisco Award in the children's music category in 2002 and became the most reissued children's album in its genre in Cuba, with at least seven documented editions.

The artist is also internationally recognized as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF and has toured Colombia, Spain, and Mexico.

In 2025, he received the Extraordinary Award for Artistic Mastery, and this year he released the album Almas comunes, associated with a new tour in Spain and Mexico.

Last year, the troubadour Amaury Pérez Vidal was honored with the Master of Youth Award, also associated with the Nueva Trova, which underscores the significance of that musical movement in the recognition granted by the AHS to previous generations.
