Note:
A very tasty Cuban recipe. It used to be served with cane syrup, dusted with sugar, or with a sweet and sour sauce.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of wheat flour
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 4 tablespoons of oil
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons of dry wine
- water
- frying oil
Instructions:
Place the flour on a large surface and make a well in the center. Add the salt, sugar, oil, egg, and wine. Mix all the ingredients and stir in a circular motion with your fingers until a homogeneous dough forms. Gradually add the amount of water needed to form a soft dough. It will be ready when it doesn't stick to your fingers. Knead lightly and let it rest for about an hour.
Cut small portions of the dough and roll it out with a rolling pin until it is about 3 millimeters thick. Cut into strips and fry them in hot oil.
For presentation, we suggest dusting them with white sugar; they can also be served with sweet and sour sauce.
