Many people have claimed that the accident occurred minutes before curfew, around 9 p.m. Some even indicate that this could be the reason for going too quickly so as not to be fined for driving outside the limit time established in the capital.

The Kamaz truck and the Lada car are machinery of Russian origin that entered Cuba at the time of the Socialist Camp.

In February it was reported asimilar accident with a lada, at the intersection of Calle Línea and 12, in El Vedado. It was at the same time, shortly before 9 p.m., the time when the curfew imposed in Havana comes into effect. The vehicle collided with a wall and the two occupants of the car were injured.

The government of Havana decreed a curfew from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am since February 5. The measure was adopted under the pretext of stopping coronavirus infections in the capital and will be in force as long as the epidemiological situation is not considered favorable by the authorities.

In 2020, despite traffic restrictions, the country reported an average of 20 traffic accidents daily during the year, according to data from the National Road Safety Commission (CNSV).
