One dead and four injured in an accident in Boca de Camarioca, Matanzas

A tourist car in which five people were traveling suffered a fatal accident around 8 pm this Thursday near the town of Boca de Camarioca, in Cárdenas, province of Matanzas.

The sinister left one dead and four injured, according to preliminary data provided by the newspaper Giron.

“It is presumed that When one of the vehicle's tires burst, the car hit the cliffs on the side of the road.”, explained the aforementioned media, which promised to expand in the next few hours with more details about the accident.

The tragic event occurred at a point between the coastal towns of Boca de Camarioca and La Costa.

One of the injured was treated at the Boca de Camarioca Medical Post, where it was determined that he did not have life-threatening injuries and was sent to Matanzas.

Boca de Camarioca is located about 8 kilometers from the Paso Malo bridge and constitutes the eastern limit of Varadero.

The Ministry of Transportation (MITRANS) announced in early November that during the first nine months of this year, 350 deaths in traffic accidents and more than 3,700 injuries were recorded in Cuba. 51% of these traffic accidents in Cuba reported at least one victim.

Until September, 5,612 accidents were recorded on public roads - according to official figures - a figure higher than that recorded in the same period of 2020.
