Dozens of young people andTeens on bikes unleashed chaos Saturday in Brickell, Miami's financial district.

Images posted on social media show numerouscyclists driving at high speed through the streets of the area, some even doing stunts and interrupting traffic at times.

It is part of the "Wheels Up, Guns Down" rally, which takes place each year during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday weekend.

Authorities point out that in recent years cyclists, motorcyclists and vehicle drivers have driven recklessly and have even closed highways.

Large bicycle groups have also caused accidents or other dangerous events.

The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) adopted an operation to curb the illegal use of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), motorcycles and dirt bikes in the county this weekend.

Police Director Stephanie Daniels said there will be zero tolerance for those who drive in them on a public road or highway.

"On previous holiday weekends, we have encountered visitors coming to our county to block roads and interfere with the flow of traffic," he toldNBC Miami.

"Engaging in such activities will result in police action, including arrest, a citation, and confiscation of your vehicle," he warned.
