Trucks with food “miraculously” appeared in Santiago de Cuba, in the middle of theanti-government protests that have taken place since this Sunday afternoon in the main city of the aforementioned eastern province.
According to the independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, a harrow loaded with rice and a milk cart arrived at the Carretera del Morro y Gasómetro warehouse, in the capital of Santiago.
Protesters,dissatisfied with prolonged blackouts and food shortages, have been firm in their requests, whichNot even the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Beatriz Jhonson Urrutia, has been allowed to speak in their attempt to quell the spontaneous demonstration.
The protesters also shouted in the presence of the police: “We are hungry, we are hungry.”
This Saturday,during cacerolazos that took place in different locations in the country due to extensive blackouts to which the Cubans are being subjected, the authorities chose to turn on the electricity immediately.
