At least three people injured after truck and bus crash on La Farola highway

According to witnesses, the truck hit a bus that was covering the Baracoa-Santiago de Cuba route, and several passengers suffered minor injuries.

A truck and a bus that covers the Baracoa-Santiago de Cuba route collided this Wednesday on the La Farola highway, in the province of Guantánamo, accident in which three people were injured, according to preliminary reports.

The bus was hit by a truck near Alto de Cotilla, reported in a use journalist Miguel Reyes Mendoza on social networks.

According to information from witnesses cited by the reporter, "the truck fell on top of the bus" and "the passengers were extracted through the windows" of the vehicle and taken to the municipality of Imías.

"Apparently there are only three injured who were picked up by (an) ambulance that coincided with the route and were taken to Baracoa," he explained.

Reyes said that the Emergency Medical Service and the Red Cross are activated and, according to preliminary reports, "They have no reports of serious cases or deaths".

Hours later, the station Radio Baracoa reported that personnel from the Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja General Teaching Hospital, in Baracoa, assisted in the Emergency Guard Corps three people injured in the accident on the Viaduct, who were traveling aboard the Yutong bus coming from Santiago de Cuba with destination to Baracoa.

Regarding the condition of the injured, Dr. Frank Antonio Palomares Campo indicated that they were "two female patients and one male", who had minor injuries: one with a fracture in four fingers and a displaced clavicle without complications, another with a minor injury to a foot and a third with a minor contusion to the head.

He specified that one of the people had already been discharged and the rest were in the "discharge process."

Three other passengers from the accident bus They were treated at the Ciro Frías Cabrera Polyclinic, in Imías, and were "reported out of danger," according to a publication by Eider Milhet Labori, president of the Municipal Assembly of Popular Power in Baracoa.
