Four Cubans were arrested by the Medley police, in Miami-Dade County, Florida, for participating in a criminal operation that involved the theft and illegal trade of construction materials.
The police investigation culminated on Wednesday, April 24, with the arrest of Cubans Guillermo González, Rolando Díaz, Reynel Castillo and Roylis Rodríguez, who face accusations of organized fraud and trafficking in stolen goods.
Those involved, according to authorities, were coordinating a strategy to steal a shipment of premium grade plywood, valued at about $77,725 dollars, that belonged to a local company called County Wide of Miami.
González and Díaz, employees of the company, took advantage of their access before the arrival time to steal the materials, which were then collected by Castillo and finally sold by Rodríguez at below-market prices through his company K N K Services.
Medley Police Chief Michael Martínez highlighted the sophistication and economic damage caused by this criminal network, underscoring the efforts of law enforcement to ensure security and protect the interests of legitimate businesses.
In addition, the police requested citizen collaboration to provide more information that could help in the case. Those arrested now face significant potential sentences including prison terms and large fines.
