Twenty electric tricycles were incorporated into public transportation in Holguín, which could transport about 4,000 people daily.
With capacity for six passengers and for a price of 10 pesos, the vehicles are operated by Agency No. 2 of the Taxis Holguín company.
Julio César Coré Garcel, director of the entity, explained to the newspaper Granma that routes were established in which a large number of people reside and important work and social centers are located.
According to the official, although the drivers were already licensed, they underwent a rigorous selection process that included practical tests and medical checkups.
He added that the programming foresees about 15 daily trips per team and their loading, starting at 6:00 pm, in a base created for that purpose, will leave them ready to resume service the next day.
Holguín Taxis Agency No. 2 has owned 170 tricycles with combustion engines for several years.
