A little dog that was abandoned by its owners before they emigrated spends the day standing at the door of what used to be its home in Havana.
The organization "Cubans in Defense of Animals" (CEDA) called on Cubans to think about the responsibility of having a pet, "sentient beings" that suffer a lot when they are abandoned.
The Cuban migration crisis has resulted in the abandonment of thousands of pets who are now living disoriented on the streets of the island, animal rights activists from that rescue group lamented.
History repeats itself over and over again. People leave the country and leave behind animals as loyal as this little dog who still stands at the door of what used to be his home, CEDA pointed out in a Facebook post.
He says that his activists have been seeing "a little dog that just walks back and forth, comes running up to you and greets you, but then goes back to a door, again and again" for several days.
In that house, whose family emigrated, now live other people who do not let him enter, details the post.
He claims that the dog is thin due to the daily hunger it experiences and not being neutered.
CEDA administered a dewormer and is looking for a family to adopt the loyal animal.
We know these are difficult times, but if you are looking for a companion and you know that if you leave Cuba, you won't abandon him. You can contact us to welcome this sweet dog who is suffering so much," says the request.
