A teacher dies in a traffic accident in Holguín.

A Cuban teacher died after crashing the motorcycle he was riding into a truck, this Saturday, in the city of Holguín.

The victim of the fatal accident was identified as Miguel Ángel Almaguer Oro, 55 years old, entrepreneur and former teacher at the School of Hospitality and Tourism (Formatur) in Holguín, according to the publication by his colleague and friend Eduardo Puente.

Around 1 pm today, Saturday, June 29, our dear professor Miguelito crashed his motorbike into a parked truck on Frexes Street in the city of Holguín, not surviving the impact," Puente reported.

“The terrible news that has been spreading has shaken us all,” he said, while also highlighting his career as a professor of Economics at the Ministry of Tourism institution.

“His professionalism and charisma prevailed throughout the industry and the Formatur family, which earned him the respect and affection of colleagues in the country,” he asserted. “Migue had become a renowned entrepreneur, but with him always carried the most beautiful memories of his work as a teacher and worker in the tourism sector.”

According to Almaguer's social media, at the beginning of 2023, he had started his own company GT&F (Tax and Financial Management).

Puente also described his friend as a "Martian at heart", with whom "we exchanged anecdotes about Martí that he came across or learned about through messenger."

He announced that his wake would take place on the same Saturday night. Almaguer is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Numerous people have mourned the passing of Almaguer and sent condolences to his family.

At the beginning of this week, a young woman died and her partner suffered serious injuries in a traffic accident involving an electric motorcycle and a Yutong bus in Havana.

Days before, in the municipality of Mayarí, Holguín, a man died and nine people were injured in a massive accident.
