The Republican National Convention on Wednesday featured a special guest: the eldest granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, who attended to, according to her words, show the side of her grandfather that people do not usually see.
Kai Madison Trump, 17, is the eldest of the four children of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump.
On the penultimate day of the Convention, during prime time, Kai stood in front of thousands of political leader followers to speak to them about his most intimate side: that of a loving grandfather who cares for and spoils his grandchildren.
For me, he's just a regular grandfather. He gives us candies and sodas when our parents aren't looking. He always wants to know how we are doing in school. When I made the honor roll, he printed it out to show his friends how proud he was of me," he recounted.
The teenager recounted how she experienced the attack against Trump last Saturday at a rally in Pennsylvania, words that drew applause from the attendees.
"I was surprised when I heard that he had been shot. And I just wanted to know if he was okay. It was heart-wrenching that someone would do that to another person. Many people have put my grandfather through hell. And he is still standing," he emphasized.
She also emphasized that her grandfather encourages her to be the most successful person she can be: "Obviously, he sets the bar very high, but who knows, maybe someday I will reach it."
Grandpa, you are a great inspiration. And I love you. The media makes my grandpa look like a different person, but I know him as he is. He is very protective and loving. He truly wants the best for this country and will fight every day to make America great again," she concluded.
Kai's intervention has been seen as his first role in politics, following the steps of other family members.
The young woman wore an elegant white dress and stiletto heels and appeared confident in front of the audience, following her father's introduction.
You won't see a Trump give up the floor very often, but on Monday I received a phone call from a young lady who said, "Dad, I want to speak at the convention," he revealed.
Granddaughter and grandfather share a great passion: golf. Earlier this year, she won a women's club championship at her grandfather's golf course in Palm Beach.
This week, he shared the famous photo of the former president raising his fist after surviving the assassination attempt, with the caption: "We love you, grandpa. Never stop fighting!"
