Donald Trump made his appearance on Monday at the Republican National Convention with a bandage over his right ear, and was greeted by a crowd of enthusiastic supporters following the assassination attempt against his life last Saturday.
The former president entered the convention in Milwaukee calmly, with his fist raised high and to the sound of a live performance of "God Bless the USA".
Many of his followers acclaimed him with tears in their eyes, and during the event where he was confirmed as the Republican candidate for the November elections, he also showed emotion, thanking everyone.
At the meeting, he greeted key political allies. He was accompanied by members of his family, including three of his children, but his wife Melania did not attend.
Apparently the attack against Trump has given him a significant political boost that he is taking advantage of.
At the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, the former president listened to about an hour of speeches while sitting next to his running mate and vice-presidential candidate, Ohio Senator JD Vance.
Trump made the announcement that Vance would be on the November electoral ballot just hours before the start of the convention. He also had the Cuban-American Marco Rubio among his prospects.
The Republican supporters and delegates had been waiting for hours for the appearance of the former president, which was not officially scheduled for the first day of the convention.
On the other hand, Joe Biden also reappeared in the electoral campaign after the attack on his predecessor, and it is expected that he will maintain a strategy that focuses on policies - and not on personality - to confront Trump.
Before the public events in Nevada this Tuesday, Biden announced new actions to reduce housing costs, including a plan to limit the rental fees charged by certain landlords.
Officials say the measures are aimed at easing a significant financial burden for millions of voters; and many agree that they will also allow Biden to sell the essence of his proposals to voters, instead of attacking the moral and bellicose personality of the Republican businessman.
