The president of the United States has once again "slipped up" in public by mentioning a high-ranking official from his administration, a mistake that fuels the perception among supporters and members of his party that he should drop out of the race for reelection.
In a television interview, Joe Biden could not remember the name of the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, and referred to him as "the black guy."
Biden was specifically talking about the Black people working in his cabinet and the women in leadership positions, as well as the criticism he has received for this, when he seemed to pause for a few seconds.
"Everything is based on treating people with dignity. And it's about... Look, for example the debates I'm receiving because... umm… I named the... the... the Secretary of Defense... the black guy," he expressed.
His words only increased the doubts about the mental health of the 81-year-old president. Additionally, he has a recent positive diagnosis for Covid-19, which forced him to cancel his campaign commitments.
In recent days, Biden has made other serious mistakes that have raised concerns about whether he is capable of continuing in the White House.
Last week, in a press conference, he mistakenly referred to Kamala Harris as "Vice President Trump" and continued talking without realizing what he had said, a slip that sparked mockery from Donald Trump.
"I would not have chosen Vice President Trump as vice president if I thought she wasn't qualified to be president," he said.
Hours earlier, during the closing of the NATO Summit, while introducing the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, he referred to him as "President Putin."
Regarding his Secretary of Defense, it is not the first time Biden has forgotten his name, who has been in the position since December 2020. At an event last March, he called him "the guy who runs that organization over there."
Numerous democrats are demanding the resignation of the president as a candidate for the presidency.
The last to do so was Barack Obama, who stated that Biden must seriously consider his candidacy for the elections as the path to a Democratic victory has greatly diminished in the polls and donors are abandoning him.
