President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID-19 during an examination conducted while staying in Las Vegas, after experiencing mild symptoms of the disease, reported the White House.

Biden is experiencing mild symptoms, including a runny nose, non-productive cough, and general discomfort, but he is vaccinated and boosted, according to an official statement.

He states that the president will return to Delaware, where he will isolate according to CDC guidelines for symptomatic individuals and will continue to fully perform all his duties from his home in Rehoboth.

The White House will provide regular updates on its status while continuing with its presidential duties during isolation, emphasizes the information posted on X.

In a statement, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre pointed out that the president tested positive "after his first event in Las Vegas" and noted that Biden already had scheduled his return to Delaware after his trip to the city in Nevada.

Dr. Kevin O'Connor, the president's physician, explained that Biden's symptoms began with upper respiratory problems.

Despite feeling that she could continue with her schedule, she decided to undergo a COVID-19 test when the symptoms did not improve, testing positive.

Next, a first dose of Paxlovid was administered, a medication known to reduce the chances of hospitalization or death in cases of COVID-19.

The medical report indicates that Biden does not have a fever, his respiratory rate is normal, his temperature is 97.8°F, and his pulse oximetry is 97%.

Biden, 81, has maintained a full schedule in Nevada this week, amidst recent concerns about his health and abilities following his performance in the debate with former President Donald Trump at the end of June.

However, he claims that he is backed by almost 60 years in politics and that no one is more qualified than him to rule the country.

In 2022, Biden also tested positive for Covid-19.
