The family confirmed that the young man is safe and sound. The report of his disappearance sparked alarm, after it was revealed that he was going to provide a motorcycle taxi service at midnight.

The Cuban motorist Manuel de Jesús Dela Ramos, who was reported missing on Sunday morning when he went out to provide a taxi service, has been found alive.

The independent portal CubaNet, which had reported its disappearance, announced the good news on its Facebook wall.

"According to the family, the young man has just appeared, safe and sound," he revealed, without giving further details.

The report of the disappearance had caused alarm on social media, especially after it was revealed that she was going to provide a motorcycle taxi service around midnight.

Dela Ramos, 28 years old, was last seen that Sunday at 2:00 am near Calzada de 10 de Octubre, in Havana.

His family described him as riding a Suzuki motorcycle with license plate U99458 and wearing a sports jumpsuit.

Some internet users questioned that, as has happened on other occasions, when a missing person is found or located, no explanation is provided.

Social media has become a means for people in Cuba to report the disappearance of their loved ones and seek help to find them.

The country, mired in an unprecedented economic crisis, is experiencing a wave of violence to which the authorities are not responding.
