The Cuban rapper and political prisoner Maykel Castillo Pérez, known as "El Osorbo," is facing health problems in the maximum-security prison "Kilo 5 y Medio," located in Pinar del Río, where he is serving his sentence.

According to Martí Noticias, the artist has had a fever and headaches, although his wife, Viviani Peña, has not been able to confirm whether it is dengue or another virus due to limitations in the penitentiary.

The situation in the prison is critical, exacerbated by an increase in cases of dengue and Oropouche fever in Cuba. Your next visit is scheduled for August 20, a date that coincides with your 41st birthday.

The rapper, winner of two Latin Grammy Awards for the song "Patria y Vida," was sentenced in 2022 to nine years in prison for charges of contempt, assault, public disorder, and defamation.

In May, international organizations and colleagues of the Cuban rapper Osorbo commemorated his third year in prison, accused by the regime of assault, resistance, and contempt.

The organization Amnesty International for the Americas recalled that they continue to demand the immediate and unconditional release of Osorbo from the government of Díaz-Canel, who was detained in 2021.

Last April, Osorbo was brutally beaten in prison to the point that he nearly lost an ear, detailed the independent media outlet El Estornudo.

In an article signed by the Cuban writer Carlos Manuel Álvarez, titled "Maykel Osorbo: ‘They have to kill me face to face’", details are revealed about the incident that occurred on April 18 in the maximum security prison of Kilo 5 and a Half in Pinar del Río.

The assault occurred during breakfast time, when several inmates were protesting the food scarcity in the prison after the bread ran out, the text states.
