The Cuban content creator @i.am.ivey shared a video on TikTok in which he reflects on the idea of sharing housing with family or friends to reduce costs, especially in a country like the United States.
In his message, he noted that although this option may seem attractive at first, in the long run it can become a "bad deal" due to the problems that arise from cohabitation.
In a video recently shared online, the tiktoker recounted the story of a young man who decided to share his apartment with several relatives, seeking to save money and get ahead. However, this decision triggered a series of conflicts and difficulties in daily coexistence. According to the account, the lack of respect for sleeping hours, food, and common cleanliness created a chaotic environment where no one wanted to collaborate, leading the young man to regret his decision.
In his reflection, Ivey emphasized the importance of valuing personal peace over economic savings, especially when one already has the opportunity to live alone.
"That's a bad deal," he stated, suggesting that cohabitation can be more problematic than it seems at first glance. The creator insisted that it's better to live alone and avoid the conflicts that can arise from these types of situations.
The video generated a large number of reactions among its followers, who shared their own experiences and opinions: "That's always a total and resounding failure"; "Right now I'm living alone and I'm happy"; "Better alone than in bad company"; "Living together is very difficult, and with family even more so; the best option is to live alone and far away"; "You can't imagine, I think we've all been through this"; "I look beautiful all by myself; the only one I want is my cat"; "That never leads to a good outcome, greetings"; "As I always tell my husband, I wouldn't trade my tranquility and privacy for saving money"; "That is very true"; "I know people who spend years and years stuck in that same situation"; "I wouldn't trade my peace for anything"; "The worst is living with family; I say this from experience," some said.
The reflection has invited debate on family coexistence and the personal sacrifices that are often made in order to save money, and whether it is really worth risking mental peace for this type of decision.
