The corpse of the woman found this Friday in a garbage tank in Old Havana was presumably identified as Lianet Núñez Pérez, a 20-year-old.
Lianet was a resident of the Jesús María neighborhood in Old Havana, and she had been seen for the last time on the night of Thursday, August 22.
This Friday, the independent portal CubaNet reported that the presumably dismembered body of a woman had been found in a garbage tank located on Habana Street between Luz and Acosta, in the capital municipality of La Habana Vieja.
A video shared on Facebook showed an ambulance, as well as police and other members of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) at the scene. In the comments section of the post, residents of the area stated that the victim was dismembered and that limbs (the arms) were missing.
The police cordoned off the area and closed access to pedestrians, prohibiting the use of cell phones in the block. They then initiated the investigation, which included the use of canine techniques.
However, it seems that at first, neighbors in the area were able to capture images of the body found in the garbage container before the police arrived.
Another video shared by the user identified on Facebook as Isis Ro showed what appeared to be the body of a woman in a trash container.
At the time of writing this note, neither the authorities nor the official media of the Cuban regime are echoing the alleged crime committed, despite the shock and alarm generated among the neighbors by the terrible event.
Editor’s Note: In a previous version of this news, CiberCuba reported that the deceased was Kiara González Bermúdez. This information has been corrected.
