Nine people were injured, two of them seriously, following a mass accident that occurred Wednesday morning in the municipality of Palma Soriano, Santiago de Cuba.
The incident occurred on the National Highway, in the section from Irijoa to Arroyo Blanco.
According to a post on Facebook by Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, the first secretary of the Party in the province, a bus from the Transtur Habana company, which was transporting 40 Cuban passengers from the capital to Santiago, crashed into a trailer belonging to EMGEF Electric Power Generation Group FUEL-OIL, which was heading toward Contramaestre.
The photos show that after the crash, the bus crashed into a house.
Miguel Ángel Díaz Núñez, director of Public Health in the territory, revealed that nine people were injured.
The bus driver, Henry Yanes Díaz, 36 years old, residing in El Cotorro, Havana, is in critical condition and facing life-threatening danger.
For his part, passenger Ricardo Matos Reyes, 58 years old and a resident of the city of Guantánamo, is reported to be in serious condition but not in danger of death.
The other injured individuals have minor injuries.
Everyone is being treated at the Juan Bautista General Hospital in Palma Soriano (the two seriously injured are in intensive care). When possible, the nine will be evacuated to the city of Santiago to continue their medical care.
So far, the causes of the accident have not been reported.
