Explosion of electric motorcycle causes fire in garage of a house in Matanzas.

The incident occurred inside a garage on Calzada General Betancourt, in the Playa Popular Council.

A garage of a house in the central area of the city of Matanzas caught fire on the morning of this Monday, without any loss of human life.

The incident occurred inside a garage on Calzada General Betancourt, in the Playa Popular Council, in the capital of Matanzas, reported the state newspaper Girón.

Videos shared with our newsroom show a large column of smoke rising from the area of the incident, due to the intensity of the flames, which miraculously did not spread to other parts of the house.

The presence of the firefighters is also visible, who worked to prevent the fire from spreading.

The official media adds that "since it is a central and heavily trafficked route, motorized forces of the Revolutionary National Police are present at the location to assist the firefighters and prevent possible vehicle collisions."

The fires caused by electric motorcycles have resulted in significant losses of property and resources for Cubans, including the deaths of entire families, as was the case with the residents of a home in the neighborhood of Luyanó, in the municipality of Diez de Octubre, where all members perished.

The inhabitants of a house on Callejón de Guma between Mujica and San Gabriel in Matanzas had better luck, as they experienced a fire due to the explosion of an electric motorcycle.

Last Friday in the Lawton neighborhood of Havana, another fire involving several motorcycles completely destroyed the workshop and part of a house.

Some of the advice given to avoid these incidents is to be very careful with battery repairs.

Additionally, it is recommended that this type of motorcycle be charged in places where the owner has visibility to keep an eye on it, and it is advised not to lie down during the charging time.

It is also advisable to keep it charging in places where there are no containers with fuel, preferably alone and away from access roads or places that can quickly propagate a fire, such as furniture, curtains, cardboard, among others.
