An elderly Cuban woman is assaulted in broad daylight in Matanzas and her jewelry is stolen.

The police told the lady that they couldn't do anything, that she shouldn't worry, that since her children are abroad, she will continue to receive help.

A Cuban woman reported on her social media the assault that her mother, a 70-year-old elderly woman, was a victim of on a street in Matanzas.

According to what Evelyn Rodríguez Rojas revealed on Facebook, the incident occurred in Santa Marta, in the municipality of Cárdenas, in the morning, around 10:00 am.

"Thank God she is doing well," Evelyn clarified, detailing that her mother had a chain, some earrings, and a ring stolen. The latter has great sentimental significance, as it is a memento of the victim's late mother.

"If anyone sees that she is being sold, please contact me via DM, as the Police say they can't do anything, that we shouldn't worry, that since her children are abroad, she will continue to receive help," she reported.

"What have we become…," he questioned.

Dozens of internet users lamented the incident and were glad that the elderly woman, named Estrella, was not injured, despite the bad experience.

Many criticized the Police for their negligence, shamelessness, and lack of professionalism.
