The relatives of Froilán Bernardino Álvarez Ponce, an elderly man suffering from Alzheimer's and diabetes mellitus, requested the community's help to locate him.
In the comments to this post on social media, a user identifying as Orlando Ponce claims to be Froilán's cousin and stated that the elderly man is already with his family, safe and sound.
Álvarez Ponce was last seen on Monday when he left his home in Havana. He was wearing the same sweater from the shared photo, along with gray shorts and a red cap. He was missing for more than two days.
The family's message indicated that this Cuban needs medication due to his health condition.
This type of case is becoming increasingly common in Cuba, where social media has become an essential tool for locating missing persons, especially due to the lack of official channels that effectively highlight these cases.
People with diseases like Alzheimer's are particularly vulnerable, which increases the concern of their families and loved ones, who turn to media and digital platforms to seek help.
