A Cuban woman who recently arrived in the United States had an emotional moment that quickly went viral on social media, as she showed how she cooked a pumpkin in tears after it was used for a Halloween photo shoot for her granddaughter.
The video, shared on TikTok by the user @indianasan, reveals the touching story of this grandmother who, refusing to throw the pumpkin away, decided to make use of it in the kitchen.
In the images, the lady expresses her surprise at the idea of discarding the fruit, something that would be unthinkable in Cuba due to its high cost and scarcity.
"So expensive that a pumpkin costs in Cuba, and they wanted me to throw it away, no way, you have to eat everything that appears here," she commented while holding the pumpkin in her hands.
With the pan full of pieces of pumpkin, the grandmother feels excited as she recalls her life on the island, where food is a precious commodity. "It makes me emotional, do you think that can be thrown away? Not a chance," she added with tears in her eyes.
This video reflects the realities and emotions of many Cuban migrants, who carry with them not only memories of their loved ones but also the daily difficulties experienced in their country of origin.
The reaction of the lady has touched the hearts of thousands of people, who have expressed their solidarity on social media with her feelings and emotional connection to something as everyday as a pumpkin.
The video has already accumulated thousands of views and comments, and it is a testament to how the small things can bring to the surface great emotions for those who have left their country behind in search of a better future.
