Members of Lama Cuba, a group of enthusiasts dedicated to classic motorcycles and motorcycle tourism, recently delivered donations in the Guantanamo municipality of San Antonio del Sur, one of the areas most affected by Hurricane Oscar last October.
"LAMA Cuba proudly upholding our brotherhood and humanity, delivering donations to the municipality of San Antonio del Sur, Guantánamo, which has been recently impacted," the members stated in a post shared on Facebook.
Fans of classic motorcycles shared several images showcasing the impact of the hurricane on the Guantanamo territory, as well as moments of camaraderie with the residents of San Antonio del Sur, adding a touch of joy amidst the many hardships faced by the community.
After Hurricane Oscar struck the region, many individuals, including activists and entrepreneurs, mobilized their efforts to assist affected families.
One of them was mattress manufacturer Víctor Escalona, who announced through social media that he would donate several beds to those who lost everything due to the impact of the cyclone.
Johanna Jolá Álvarez, along with her team from the solidarity initiative Huellas, also mobilized their efforts and organized a donation drive.
The Cuban diaspora also contributed its share of help. A Cuban truck driver from Tampa donated a toolkit to a young man in San Antonio del Sur, who became a local hero by assisting in the rescue of a family, thus enabling him to continue recovery efforts following the hurricane's passage.
