Traffic light outage causes accident in Havana, resulting in an injured motorcyclist

The injured person lay in the street, and no car stopped to help him until one finally took him to the hospital. The ambulance arrived 30 to 40 minutes later.

A traffic light out in Havana caused an accident on Friday involving a motorcycle and a microbus taxi known as 'gacelas.' The collision resulted in injuries to the motorcyclist, and as of the writing of this report, their current condition is unknown.

The Twitter user ASERE YA reported that the traffic light had no electricity and there was also no police officer to direct traffic, as is typically required.

"A young boy was coming down 19, he went straight and the gazelle hit him very hard," he said.

According to the tweet, the injured person lay in the street, and none of the cars passing by helped him.

"The cars did not stop; you can see in the video how many passed by, both state and private vehicles, ignoring the cries for help, until a compassionate soul took him to the hospital. The ambulance arrived 30 or 40 minutes after they took the injured person away, for no good reason," he explained.

"Eyewitnesses tell me that the young man was alive but out of it; the blow was too strong. May God place His hand and heal the young man," he asked.

A user commented that in Cuba, if you wait for an ambulance, the injured may die on the spot. For this reason, many people make the biggest mistake in these situations, which is moving an accident victim.

Regarding the causes of the collision, another Twitter user stated that at that intersection, the priority was with the gazelle, as it was the one traveling on 42.

"In Cuba, most people who drive motorcycles don't know how to ride or respect traffic laws. However, it is disrespectful that there are no police officers at all the intersections without electricity because of these issues," he questioned.
